Sven was the name of a sailor who had gone through an unbelievable adventure not too long ago. It all began when he became stranded on an island somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. He was a sailor on a navy ship that had sunk mysteriously into the deep waters, and he was the only one who had managed to escape to safety. With the little food he had been able to gather from the trees near him, he embarked on a quest to find any signs of civilization on this island.
Sven was a healthy man with strong muscles and plenty of survival skills to help him on his journey, but at the same time he was young and inexperienced, and had never been in this type of situation before.
He was surrounded by nothing but plants and vegetation to his left, right and front. The sandy beach was many yards behind him, still making the pleasant sounds from the waves of the sea. Sven walked for many hours without finding anything of importance, other than a few more exotic fruits to eat.

I have a Science Question…?

What have Earth Scientists really learned about the effect of astronomical events (such as asteroid impacts) on the biosphere and planet?

Can we live without oil?

Do some math. Take a city of 4 million people.
If everyone needs a pound of food per day, thats 2000 tons of food per day. Can’t move that with a horse and buggy.
Refrigerating that food. At 1 kilowatt per pound thats 4000 megawatts.

That’s just food. Then there’s power, transport, hospitals, sanitation. Wind and solar don’t have the energy densities of oil.

Desalination is a rising issue as the world looks to water. Its power-hungry but water is a necessity. Iran is smart, they’re looking to nuclear because they know the oil will run out. How about the rest of us?

Asteriod impact in 2027 or in 2039?

I don’t remember the name of the asteroid but will it hit earth? I’m scared people are saying its the end of the world

plan for escaping the suburbs?

we want to make a plan to get out of the suburbs/city if there was like a nuclear bomb or something (1- i’m being serious, not talking about zombies- 2- i’m not talking about the Apocalypse- 3- i know i would be dead if there was a bomb, i’m just saying if the US was attacked or something and we were to be displaced)
We know we would be better off in the woods than in the city. we are very close to countryside and forests so a day or so walking, maybe less and we’d be fine. we are going to make an emergency pack to take with us if we needed to leave right away. what types of things should we put in it? although we have not practiced a lot of survival techniques, we are familiar with the forest and have done extensive research on these skills and we also have manuals that would be helpful too that we could follow out there. so- 1- suggestions on a plan (what is your plan like?)
2- suggestions on what to put in the pack?
Thanks
