A similar process to what happens if one collides with the Earth or other solid planet or moon.

There is a hypersonic shock wave generated by contact with the atmosphere. That will cause the asteroid to be slowed, and to lose some mass by the heat generated. The shock way well disintegrate the asteroid into small fragments, in a similar way to hitting a solid surface.

But with no solid surface, the inner part of the asteroid may remain intact after it slows to sub-sonic speed. If so it will fall to the solid core of the planet. That distance is greater than earth's diameter for even the smallest of the gas giants.

Oatmeal, Ground Barley, Ground Brown Rice, Rye Flour, Tomato Pomace
Crude Protein Not Less Than 22.0%
Crude Fat Not Less Than 12.0%
Crude Fiber Not More Than 3.0%
Moisture Not More Than 11.0%
Calcium Not More Than 1.20%
Phosphorus Not Less Than 0.90%
Vitamin E Not Less Than 150 IU/kg
Omega 6 Fatty Acids* Not Less Than 2.30%
Omega 3 Fatty Acids* Not Less Than 0.80%
Beta-Carotene* Not Less Than 5 mg/kg
Lycopene* Not Less Than 0.25 mg/kg
Taurine* Not Less Than 0.09%
Total Micro-organisms* Not Less Than 20,000,000 CFU/lb

Nothing wrong with that formula at all, there is plenty of "salad" in it, but yes dogs do need the "salad" as well as meat.
22% protein is hardly indicative of all meat.

HOWEVER, the dog food market is understandably very competitive, and there is enough creative marketing out there to choke a horse.

edit
"Typically the grains and vegetable matter found in kibble are the binding agents."

Yes some is formulated to work as a binding agent, but it is first and foremost there for it's nutritional value. A dogs nutritional needs CAN NOT be met by only meat products.
"causes a condition known as secondary hyperparathyroidism.
Recognized clinically for many years in dogs fed meals consisting
mainly of meat, this disease results in major bone loss, skeletal
abnormalities, and pathological fractures."

I know how to read.

Wellness is a good food. Keep feeding it.

In order to be marketed as a dog food, which Wellness it is. It must meet certain standards both in nutritional content and labeling guidelines.

The person who said that last night had no clue what they were talking about.

Wow, I just re-read that answer you got last night, and found even more bogus info there. Guar Gum if it was to be used in kibble at all, would be in your crap brands of food. I have not come across one kibble yet that used that as a binding agent.

Typically the grains and vegetable matter found in kibble are the binding agents. This is why even your top quality brands will have some form of plant in them. Without it the kibbles wouldn't stay kibble shaped. All binding agents are not created equal though.

I know how to read.

Great, if you have more confidence in Indians of a thousand years ago, more than you do in modern scientists. I'll go with the scientists.
