Tuna is ok, in moderation. I suggest going to your veterinarian and getting a list of foods that are toxic to them. They have a very comprehensive list available. You could also get one from googling it.

Stick to unseasoned, cooked meats, otherwise you run the risk of making your kitty sick, or at least barf a lot. It’s just better to not feed them “people food,” insted feed them kitty canned tuna, I know they sell some sort of tuna mush for cats, plus it will ultimately be cheaper.

Cats don’t need all that fancy food. While the ancestor and relatives of the domesticated cat junted and killed live prey and ate it raw, they also died from disease and intestinal parasites.

Cat food exists for a reason.

Also, cats need some essential amino acids and nutrients they cannot get from a normal diet. You need to feed a fortified diet with taurine and cytocine. These are included in normal commercial foods.

Using kitty tuna as a treat, or even real human grade tuna is fine as a treat. but it should not make up the main diet. Other foods are ill advised. Some may harm the cat or lead to digestive distress, smelly stools and obesity.

Look for a commercial food without any by-products and one that uses meats instead of grains as the main ingriedients.

Cats should have access to crunchy foods for their dental health. Dental disease is a leading cause of kidney failure and heart diseas in cats. While a cleaning every few years helps remove tartar, feeding a crunchy diet does even more.
