  1. It’s surely normal, since everybody isn’t like the other, and everybody has their own way to act in any kind of situation. The least you can do is to talk to your father and ask him to be more polite.
If you don’t tell what bothers you, no one can know what you like or dislike.

  3. Well I guess that your dad had a right to feel irritated with the service there. It’s poor planning if they know that the restaurant will be packed at that time of the day so they should be a little more prepared for irrate customers if they only have 4 attendants :-)

  4. That was very childish of your father to do that. Being the older one he should of known better. He owes you and your friend an apology for acting like as a$$ in public.

I think being embarrassed about what a family member has done is part of life. Most people have someone in their family who they would like to hide in a closet..The only saying is true ” you can pick your friends but you cant pick your family”. Try not to be to hard on your Dad though, maybe he was tired or something else was wrong..Talk to him about it and clear the air..

You’re certainly justified in being irritated with your father; there’s no excuse for being rude to the waitress. That said, I wouldn’t make too big a deal of it with him. You’re not going to change his behavior (he is a grown man) and also remember that what seems embarrassing to you might not really be noticed by other people. Waitresses have customers all the time that are way more rude than that.

Once I was in a bank with my dad and he found out the bank had made some sort of mistake with his account and he began shouting at the poor teller at the top of his voice (even though it wasn’t her fault) until the poor woman broke down into tears and had to run away. Believe me, what you describe is not that bad.
