  1. Don’t tell him it’s healthy! Use words and suggestions to make the food seem more appetizing. Most men aren’t very picky, if the food tastes good and is pleasing. This can be easily accomplished with healthier foods. If you prepare the food – and he’s hungry – he’ll be sure to eat if it’s delicious, even if it’s healthier.

  2. Change your cooking habit and don’t tell him, change ground hamburger to ground turkey, use less fat or no fat just do not tell him and he won’t know the difference.

Perhaps you could try taking photos of him, and when he asks why you’re taking his picture…tell him, “I just want to be sure to have something to remember you by…”

  4. Tell him that it will affect his sex life. Healthier food + exercise = a healthier sex life.

I just started cooking healthier, added more veggis, less meats. It seems as if you dont tell him, it makes it easier, and if its what the rest of the family eats, then he will eat it as well.

  8. He’s your husband, so that means that he lives with you. This makes it easier then…. As of right now, do you do the shopping for food? If so keep it that way, you’ll be able to buy nothing but healthy food then.. If you have junk food right now, don’t buy anymore, and when its gone, its gone… Buy ice cream that is healthier, buy low fat milks, because you are the one shopping for food, then at least at home he’ll have to eat better. This is what my mother did for my dad too, and it worked, cause my father hates to go shopping for food, and wouldn’t even know where to start..lol…. If you must buy candy and cookies, buy sugar free, they really are not that bad tasteing at all. Trying to find the right ones that you like may take some time, but its worth it in the long run, dont you think..??.. Start cooking that way too, stop using oils to fry up chicken, use a cooking spray that has less fat, and salts… When browning up hamburger, and draining the gresse, take a napcin, and wipe the pan before putting the hamburger back in the pan… Less gresse to clog him up.. If he works out of the house, and has to eat lunch at work, try packing him a lunch.

    Good Luck!!

Men tend to eat food that is easy to make/order/pick up.

If you want him to eat healthy foods, start out by making him breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a while. It would also help if you still let him have unhealthy food once in a while.

  10. quit buying junk and just buy healthier stuff. We keep veggies chopped up and fruit on the counter and so they are accessible and easy to grab.

  11. Find a friend’s husband who is old enough to have had his first or second heart attack. Invite the couple over to dinner one night and let your friend casually bring up the subject of how her husband has had to adjust his lifestyle to deal with his heart condition.

  12. Start making a healthier meal once a week. Healthy can mean just replacing a fatty meat with something else. Add Boca Burger crumbles(?) to your pasta sauce. I promise he will not know the difference. Replace butter/margerine with Earth Balance Natural Butter spread. Smear it on a good whole grain bread with garlic. Not a supermarket bread but a good crusty bakery one. Boca Burgers piled high with onions and tomatoes, and his favorite condiment. He will never know it isn’t meat. My sister told her hubby it was turkey burgers LOL. Start slow and keep adding. Men aren’t good with change. Start shopping at whole foods or trader joes for some great ideas too.

  14. Put it on the table and in the cupboards. It’s hard to eat what is not there.

Please do not nag. It will have the opposite effect. You must know by now that he will only change habits if he wants to. Imagine if he tried to get you to exercise more (probably a bad example, but you get the idea).

    I’m a man. I know.
