  1. Personally, I would not write home about it. But, if it has the seal of the AAFCO, then it is a complete and total food for your kittens.

Kitten food often has more grains than adult food. While many point out that is ‘bad’, often grains contain a very digestible form of proteins and amino acids for your kitten.

  2. It’s not as good as Wellness Core, but it’s still a very good food. You might want to consider Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul as well – a less expensive but still high-quality food.

  3. Felidae is a great cat food. The main ingredient is a meat product. No corn or wheat which is great. High quality grains. Lots of meat proteins and hhas some veggies and fruit in it. One of the best foods they make.

  4. I did see your earlier post and did some research on prices and ingredients.

To summarize, Felidae is good while Wellness Core is great.
My own cats eat only a teensy bit of dry and that is Innova Evo which is in the same class as Wellness Core. While Wellness Core costs about $3.20/lb, Evo costs about $2.60/lb. They are both 50% protein and have similar ingredients.

You don’t say whether your cats are eating wet food or not. Since that wasn’t part of either of your questions I won’t go on about it except to give you this one link http://www.catinfo.org/ and to say that there are a couple other ways to save on cat food.

I see lots of coupons online. Maybe you could post a question about the best coupon sites or company discount programs. Wellness used to have a coupon program where you could get $10.00 off every month – maybe they still do.

Another way to save money is to feed raw homemade for part of their diet. You can find tons of information online and there is at least one Yahoo forum for raw feeding cats. If you go this route, learn as much as you can about nutrition and start small.

I do not recommend Felidae but it obviously far superior to anything you can buy at the supermarket with the exception of Chicken Soup… which seems about the same in terms of price and quality.

I’d recommend Prowl Cat Food. It is a dehydrated raw food that you just mix with a little warm water to the dry measure and stir.

It is made from: USDA chicken, eggs, potatoes, yams, organic flaxseed, zucchini, spinach, honey, cranberries, rosemary, vitamins and minerals

Prowl contains absolutely no by-products, added salt or sugar, chemical preservatives, artificial colors or flavors and NO beet pulp, rice, wheat, corn, or soy.

Prowl is guaranteed 100% human-food-grade because it is not produced in a pet food plant. It is made in an FDA approved, human-food-producing facility in Southern California, a plant that makes some of the very same foods you eat.
