What’s a good place to learn survival skills/nature from my father?

My father plans to teach me survival skills, edible plants, etc., and I’m tasked with finding a suitable area for said activities. What’s the best place to go for that? I live on the edge of Sacramento in California, about 30 minutes away from a popular lake recreation area and 45 minutes away from El Dorado National Forest. I’m thinking the forest would be best because there’d be less people there and it would be much more lush. But I’m unsure of the LEGALITY of it; also how we’d actually enter it without stepping onto private property. Any thoughts?

13mo. old wakes up screaming and crying almost every day after his 2nd nap, I can’t console him, ? to do?

he takes a nap in the morning and is fine with that one, but for some reason almost every day he wakes up screaming and crying almost like he is scared. Yesterday he cried and screamed for a solid 30 minutes. He didn’t even have his eyes open. He didn’t want to be held or to be set down. He even refused to eat dinner for 45minutes, he never refuses food. Nothing I tried worked. I have no idea why he is doing this. He has the same routine every day. Should I wakes him up before he wakes up on hin own; maybe?? Please help!!!

I need to lose 40lbs!?

Can anyone give me a straight answer? I need to lose 40lbs by July. I have a treadmill and use it about 4-5days a week. I do 30 minutes at 3.3 mph. I am an extremely busy mom of 3 who are all in sports and don’t have tons of time to be whipping up ultra healthy low cal foods for myself. I also had a very bad broken arm in Sept. ( casted for 3 months from shoulder to finger tips ) and that’s when I gained 30. Help Help Help! I am going to Mexico in July and don’t want to feel horible on the beach!
