Terrorist attacks and natural disasters are two totally different incidents. When you prepare your family for these two separate incidents, your preparations are just alike, though. You don’t prepare to fight the terrorists and you don’t prepare to change the weather. You prepare your home and your family for “after the incident”. You prepare for the type of weather, the methods of cooking, bathing, defending your home from criminals, & ways to simply survive and go about life without modern technology.
The first volume of this two volume series, “A Southerner’s Guide for Family Preparations to Overcome ANY Terrorist Attack or Natural Disaster”, was a guideline for family preparations. Family preparedness is the first key element in a families’ survival in an emergency situation. Volume I gave you the knowledge of what to prepare with, what to prepare for, & how long to prepare for. The essentials that you stored away are the things that you would need to keep your family or yourself alive and able to function for a small amount of time without the help of the outside world. By small amount of time, I mean a timeframe of up to a month. If you had to completely relocate you would have enough to get by until you could get set up at your new location. If you stuck it out at your home, you would have enough supplies to do you until life could resume at your hometown. In today’s society with as many emergency rescue services and disaster relief services, a month to six weeks is about as long as things could stay completely out of control.
I have heard of places that instruct you to put enough provisions back to keep you alive & well for 1 YEAR. Who in the world has that much storage space for a year’s worth of supplies? NOT I… A person’s food, water, & essential living supplies should be kept in a basement, if you have one, or one of the innermost rooms of your home for several reasons. That will be covered later in this book.
In the first volume, preparations, escape strategies, & prevention techniques were the key points. Types of terrorist attacks and natural disasters were also covered for preparation reasons. Different strategies for building food supplies and all emergency essentials were covered, also.
Volume II covers things that will come in helpful after a natural disaster or terrorist attack. I have used illustrations, diagrams, & drawings to help you learn the things to help keep your family safe in a time of crisis. If the disaster is severe enough to shut every thing down as far as utilities and stores and normal way of life for more than 6 to 8 weeks and your supplies run out, no problem. Volume II covers that for you. Replenishing your supplies is critical for your family and you to stay alive and well. That is the focus of Volume II.

In today’s world anything could happen to anyone at anytime! Nobody is immune to terrorist attacks or natural disasters. After 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, the American Public was slapped in the face with an unbelievably huge wakeup call not once but twice! So was I!
I watched in astonishment at what happened on 9/11. I felt as if those planes crashed and burned into my very soul. My heart sank as those mighty twin towers came crumbling unto the ground. All the employees and firefighters that were trapped and unable to escape before the collapse a piece of me was trapped with them. I have never felt such anger toward a person I hadn’t even seen or spoke to.
Hurricane Katrina even affected my family and me almost 900 miles away. I live in the top northeast corner of Mississippi. I lost a portion of my roof to 80-MPH winds that far away from the coast. I could not even imagine the magnitude of that storm! You see natural disasters on the television and you still have no idea of Mother Nature’s Fury unless you were there to experience it first hand. The thousands and thousands of helpless and defenseless people that were stuck right where they were with no food, water, power, shelter, and protection to survive on their own as people did a hundred or so years ago with no law and order was a governmental embarrassment.
The effects of Hurricane Katrina on the United State’s South was right up the terrorist’s alley. It is sad to say but that made the terrorist’s day! I do not want to see or hear about anybody getting any enjoyment or pleasure out of seeing any person’s pain and suffering and loss. I AM AN AMERICAN ! The people’s lives torn apart by the terrorists on 9/11 were AMERICANS ! The people devastated by Hurricane Katrina were not “REFUGEES” they were AMERICANS ! Refugees are people that flee from law enforcement or other government agencies. The people that got their lives ripped apart by one of the biggest hurricanes ever on record were SURVIVORS!
My heart goes out to every person affected by these two incidents.
After Hurricane Katrina I started thinking about my family and what would happen to us if either of those things happened where we live. The plain truth is that if the same thing that happened to the rest of the American Public that would probably happen to us also to some extent. I cannot let that happen to my family. I can’t control the terrorists or the weather but I can control my family’s survival in a desperate situation no matter what the cause until more adequate help can arrive.
I was a Boy Scout as a young man. I have hunted and fished and camped all my life. I felt that was a big plus in a survival situation. But that was not enough. I wanted to know what every person would know after they served their country in the military. I bought hundreds of dollars worth of manuals and “How to’’ books.
