Reduce Great Risks by Generating Awareness on Disaster Management

Disaster management plays an important role in reducing or avoiding risks which are involved when accidents occur. The main aim of disaster management is to prepare and train people for the disasters, before they occur. Disaster management also helps people to rebuild their society after the disasters. Due to these reasons, generating awareness on disaster management has become very important.

For generating awareness on disaster management, people from different communities, age groups and areas need to come and work together. Currently, special disaster management trusts are working together to reduce the impact of disasters. By integrating emergency plans, people can know how to react when disasters take place.

Significance of Generating Awareness on Disaster Management

In any disaster management program, it is very important to increase public awareness about different dangers that can occur. This feature can help in reducing the risks which are involved in disasters. Currently, several social groups held campaigns related to public awareness on disaster management. These campaigns are commonly held in schools, universities, public places, offices and other commercial areas. These groups also help people who want to donate to victims.

Apart from social groups, even government agencies help in promoting public awareness on disaster management. These disasters include natural as well as man-made hazards. In order to fight against risks and dangers which are involved in any event, public participation is very important. This is why everyone needs to understand the importance of public awareness on disaster management .

What Does Disaster Management Include?

The nature of disaster management completely depends on the social and economic condition of states or countries. Experts recommend that disaster management must deal with human justice issues, infrastructure and public awareness. These factors are important for developed as well as developing countries.

Disaster management programs include four important points such as preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery. Mitigation means different measures which help in preventing hazards and reducing the impact of the disasters. The mitigation program needs to be designed, as per the nature of the disasters. When disasters occur, the managers make plans and programs in the preparedness phase.

Different Ways of Generating Awareness on Disaster Management

Currently, government and non-government agencies are opting for various methods to inform people about the importance of disaster management. Special events and activities like shows, plays and workshops are held to involve more people. Even media is playing an important role in informing people about the risks involved in disasters. Local communities are also promoting public awareness by using different means.

During disasters, a large number of people suffer from great losses and this is why the above mentioned groups donate to victims. Disasters generally involve life and property loss, so make sure that you also donate to victims when required.

All about generating awareness on disaster before, during and after any natural disaster.

Family Preparedness Awareness – Make Sure That Your Loved Ones Are Safe and Secure in Their Own Home

Family and loved ones are important in anyone’s life. Safety of every member of the family is the number one concerned in daily activities. In any situation, every member must know what the steps to be taken and procedures when emergency strikes.

Preparedness and awareness are important and should be instilled to everyone. A checklist may help. Kids must also be oriented with emergency preparedness awareness.

Importance of First Aid Kit.
Every home must have a first aid kit. Even if you are working, you should keep one to your car and your workplace. You will never know what will happen to you. From simple cut to burn, the kit must have urgent treatment for these. The kit must contain: bandages, cotton swabs and wool, gauze, scissors, antiseptic fluids or ointment, latex gloves, tweezers, thermometer, CPR mouth piece, antihistamine cream and telephone numbers list for emergency.

Keep your children aware.
It is important to teach your children sample emergency situations. They must be taught what to specifically do, step by step, when certain emergency situations occur. Children must be taught also how to use the telephone, where to call for emergencies as well as the fire exits in the house. Teach them a password or key words, so that in case of emergency they’d know who they will trust with your permission.

Electricity testing.
Sometimes the cause of fire is due to electrical faults. Power, electrical linings and fuse boxes should be checked regularly. Should there are faulty, these should be fixed as soon as possible. When leaving the house, make sure you unplug all appliances to avoid cause of fire.

Lilburn Awakes to Preparedness Awareness

As flood waters continue to rise throughout many parts of Georgia, residents of Lilburn are awaking to the need for preparedness awareness. According to experts at FEMA or the Federal Emergency Management Agency, it is imperative to understand what steps to take in order to keep property, people and precious belongings safe.  Keep reading for a short primer on preparedness awareness related to flood damage or other water related issues:

Pets & People. Pets & People are the first and most important consideration during any emergency and ironically, one of the most important parts of preparing for flood damage is actually providing access to clean drinking water. Flood waters typically carry extensive contamination, bacteria and organic debris that can result in illness if ingested. In fact, it is a good idea to limit physical exposure or direct contact with flood waters; instead, stock up on fresh water if possible or be sure to boil all tap/other water for at least ten minutes prior to using.

Precious Belongings. There are some things that can’t be replaced by insurance; family heirlooms, treasured moments or cherished keepsakes. Make sure these are removed from the environment after flood damage has occurred; remember, mold spores can spread and contaminate the entire home if work is not properly performed. Insist upon water extraction and then ask about duct cleaning, upholstery, carpet and other needed ancillary services to be sure your home is restored to its formerly pristine condition.

Property. The final step is to protect your property; as soon as possible contact a reputable flood damage or water restoration specialists that is licensed, bonded and insured as well as Certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration so you have the peace of mind knowing the job is done right the first time; additionally, it is a good idea to ask about a warranty for areas like the carpet cleaning or mold remediation work following water damage or restoration services.

Why are the unborn so important? What about hungry and sick children and people in this and other countries?

The idea that human sentience and awareness somehow begins at conception is a complete falsehood, as proven by science. How can it be more moral to preserve the biological function of a small group of cells than those of fully functional, conscious, sentient individuals?

Why do people care so much for the unborn, yet give less than a crap about tens of millions of children and people who go to bed hungry, or who have no medical care and so on? Does an embryo somehow suffer more than a child, or an adult? Why don’t religious people picket and write government for more homeless shelters, welfare programs, and food for the hungry?
Shana: Depending on how far along you are, the life you are carrying is not an independant and consciouss entity. I’m not saying it’s worthless. I’m just saying a conscious, living person is more valuable than an embryo or fetus. At what exact point that line blurs and it becomes a baby, I would not hazard a guess as I am no expert on early human development.
Josef: I understand the potential argument, but it doesn’t make much sense to me. An innocent child could just as well turn out to be Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin as it could Amadeus Mozart or Albert Einstein :)
Justleft: You are quite wrong. That is not even how an abortion happens. You’re about 80 years out of date. Additionally, the number of abortions is highest under religious governments. Sex education actually WORKS.
