Can someone explain to me why people are recomending Blue Buffalo food but never Canidae?

I used to feed my dog BB but switched to Candiae some months back because when looking at the ingredients I thought Canidae looked to have more meat.

So can someone please explain why ppl have quit rec. them and are now adding BB to the list of good foods.

Alright i WAS just curious if something happened and I missed it. I just read another question and there were like 15 good brands recommended but Canidae was not on any of them so it made me wonder.

What is the quality of Diamond Naturals Dog Food?

I’m purchasing my first puppy soon (Springer Spaniel), and I know the importance of feeding a good quality dog food. I’m not in to the raw diets, just a good quality dry dog food. I used to work at Petco so I’m fairly familiar with what brands are good and what are not, but I am also on a pretty tight budget. I’d like to feed Blue Buffalo or Evo but I just can’t afford it.

What about Diamond Naturals? I believe we sold it at Petco; I’ve done a bit of investigating and it *looks* like a good brand for the price…

Ingredient list for small breed puppy formula (up to 45 lbs)-

Chicken, chicken meal, cracked pearled barley, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), egg product, whole grain brown rice, beet pulp, fish meal, flaxseed, natural chicken flavor, fish meal, salmon oil (a source of DHA), potassium chloride, salt, choline chloride, yucca schidigera extract, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, potassium iodide, thiamine mononitrate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, ascorbic acid, vitamin A supplement, biotin, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, riboflavin, vitamin D supplement, folic acid.

I see no sweetners, dyes, chemical preservatives, or Menadione.
I am *fishy* about seeing “fish meal” listed twice, as well as “egg product” instead of just “eggs”.

Which brings me to another question… Would an adult Springer fall in to the large breed category? Average adult weight for a female is 45-50 lbs, but that seems to be the cut off between most small and large breed formulas…

Thanks!

New York night sky (WNY, Buffalo esp) – Why are moon and star together?

I saw a gorgeous thing looking at the sunset tonight. Up over the horizon on this clear night across Lake Erie… the sliver of a moon and a very bright star. Pretty cool…. look out at the moon now… see a sliver of the moon and do you see the star just below it to the right? Is it a planet? A star (obviously)? Does it mean anything (apocalypse)? What country’s flag does it look like?

***** Shows the old ways of gathering and preserving food, and the nutritional value of the old, natural diet. *****

***** From “The Real People Series” of nine, 30 minute programs on Indian tribes of the Northwestern United States. They are called the Colville, the Flathead, the Coeur d’Alene, the Kalispel, the Kootenai, the Nez Perce and the Spokane – and they call themselves The Real People. This series of the same name examines the lifestyles, cultures and lore of these seven Indian tribes of the Northwest. The Real People expresses the Indians’ basic values – their wisdom, warmth and humor – as exemplified in their religion, medicine, song and dance, hunting and their modern-day urban experiences. The production crew explores the special spiritual relationship the Indian has to time and space and captures the visual beauty of their environment through four-seasons location production. *****
