I’m thinking about starting an experiment to see the what effect a very low budget diet will have on my wallet, and possibly weight / general health. I’m sticking with only PB&J to minimize the chance of trying to rationalize spending any extra money “just this time”. I plan on alternating breads between white, wheat, and possibly pita. I also plan to use Grape jelly and Strawberry preserves and smooth peanut butter.
I’m doing this because I spend too much $ on food I don’t really like because i’m too lazy to make lunch for work, then I come home and get fast food because i’m tired. Not a good diet to start.
Questions:
1. Will I be in need of medical attention in a month?
2. Is there anything I should add to my meal plan to safeguard my health?
(Keep in mind LOW BUDGET)
3. Is it realistic to think that I can survive on $25 worth of food for a month when I normally spend about $600? (@ $20 per day x 30 days)
4. Will my wallet get fatter and waist get smaller?
Right now my diet is already bad:
Breakfast: Coffee and a pastry.
Lunch: Typical midtown manhattan… Hero, Pizza, or something similar and soda.
4:00 break: Soda
Get Home: more soda or juice
Dinner: Fast food, Chinese, Hero, or Pizza. More Liquid sugar to wash it down.
Sometimes i’ll have yogurt if i’m feeling hungry after dinner.
I doubt it could get too much worse…
A few more points:
This will only be for a month, mostly to show myself how much money I actually waste on garbage.
I’m not in a financial crunch by any means, (but also not doing so well that $600 a month is something to be taken lightly.
I was made aware through other sources and here that i may have some problems with “regularity”
The main thing is it’s not easy for me to change my routine, i’m hoping that this will make it easy for me to find the middle ground, and stick to it. I’ve tried working on my meal spending, after a few days of forgetting my lunch in the refrigerator i forget that i’m trying to save for another week.
