How does Anorexia Work?

Before you guys misconstrue the question, I mean, what happens when a person is anorexic? My understanding is that when one starves themselves is, by going to an extreme deficit of calories the body goes into what is called a starvation mode.

That is a natural technique to adapt to the environment because your body thinks that there is no food around you.

As a result, your body slows down its metabolism to preserve fat storages to keep you alive. Since obese people have much more fat in their body it will take a while longer until they are deprived of the nutrients to keep then alive.

How come this would lead to muscle-loss as well as fat-loss if the body is living off the fat storages?
Thanks, isn’t protein the last source the body would use though? Carbohydrates are depleted first, then fat, then protein.
Thanks guys, I just asked my mom about that, she has a PhD in chemistry and biology, I understand how that would work now. The carbohydrates are first depleted and when that happens, the muscles and fat are used for energy due to lack of carbohydrates.

Agh. Help me please!?

Today, I ate my large fabulous food of 540 calories of McDonalds. While I chowing to the bottom I choked on preserves with the vinegar slathered with mayo. My Boris grandpapa heard me in room of toilet. He dropped his newspaper and tested sprinting to the bottom, he then fell over the suction pipe to his death. Thus I tried to run to save him but the last words which I heard of old man gramps weak stays “help I fell and do not can rise.” To date I attempted to laugh in the unhappy anguish but because failed of preserves the vinegar placed in my throat. Maintaining approximately 8 minutes after this incident I type this. Can someone indicate to me how to obtain the preserves with the vinegar out of my blocked esophagus?
I no speak english.

Recovering from a binge day/night… Will i be able to stay my weight?

Alright so all yesterday i had a bad binge day. i had to have eating atleast 2000 calories of bad stuff i NEVER eat much of. I lost 30 lbs and now trying to maintain it. But lastnight since ive started my period i couldnt help myself untill 2 o clock in the morning. I mean i ate EVERYTHING. 3 bowls of oatmeal, so much sugar, LOTS of butter, i never eat butter or put sugar in my food, 2 BOXES of kashi crackers, lots of dark chocolate lots of chicken, LOTS of yogurt, lots of almond and cereal, lots of CHIPs, french fries, WHITE bread, and SO MUCH MORE and the last thing i ate was pudding i made at like 2 in the morning. I ate so much i was sick and my stomach was HARD. I got onto the scale this morning and it said i gained 2 lbs. What should i do? I got up(5:30am is when i eat breakfast) and i ate my plain shredded wheat cereal with skim milk. Then for lunch i had a sugarfree preserve sandwich on whole wheat with an apple. then for snack at around 3:30 i had a small apple with a lot of natural PB, a handful of kashi crackers and a handful of mini marshmellows.. yes i binged a lil more today but tm i think ill be ok.. Do you think i can take the weight off? After i ate breakfast i exercised a lil bit on my ellipical machine. Do you think the weight will stay? i only binge like that once a month.

Does anyone know how recovering from major surgery affects the body’s needs for calories?

I am recovering from major surgery and was told not to try to lose weight for 3 months while I am healing. I am NOT dieting, but am NOT eating as much as I had been, because I am eating healthier food. I am unable to weigh myself, so can’t tell if I am losing weight. I am certainly less active than before the surgery, but does the body require more calories to heal?
