Do smart people not go into infantry?
I remember talking to a recruiter several years ago. I was 22, had just had my daughter and trying to go to college, work, and raise a family wasn’t working out for me. I went to talk to a recruiter and he pulled up my ASVAB scores from high school. I can’t remember the actual score, but I was either in the 98th or 2nd percentile. I know he told me that I scored higher than 98% of the population.
We were looking at jobs that were available and because I was raised by an over protective single mother, I wanted to do something where I would be outdoors, learn survival skills, possibly be in hand to hand combat, take college courses, and become an officer…so there was a position available where he told me that I would be forward observing for artillery. That sounded just like what I wanted to do.
The recruiter did a double take and looked at me like I was stupid! He kept reiterating that I qualified for ALL the jobs he was recruiting for, and if I was sure that’s what I wanted to do.
I was 12lbs overweight for my height & he told me to come back once I lost the weight, and he never persued me again. People have told me that he did me a favor by not actively recruiting me. Is this true?
My Type 1 Pre-Teen is Sneaking Candy and Snacks?
My daughter is making me crazy. She is type 1 and her father and I are very careful about her care. But she has reached the age where she thinks she knows better than anyone else, and she is sneaking candy and snacks behind our backs and her blood sugar is through the roof. I mentioned this to her doctor in front of her, hoping he would back me up, and he was just kind of like yah, you know you really shouldn’t do that – like it was no big deal. Food without insulin is like poison to her system….I’m just worried sick for her. We have told her all the horror stories of what can happen to diabetics that don’t have any control, and it just doesn’t phase her. Oh, and she’s not on a pump yet so she can’t just punch in a dosage whenever she eats. I’d really love some suggestions!
Has this country has gone too far in helping illegal aliens and catering to minorities?
I know of a woman from Thailand that is here on a green card, is getting food and housing paid by the state (or federal)government, and her daughter (here legally) is getting paid (by the government) to take care of her!!!
My mother-in-law has lived and worked her entire 75 years in the USA and can only collect a measily $485 a month in social security.
Is it just me, or is there something drastically wrong with this?
The government has lowered test scores for minorities trying for civil service jobs because a “percentage” of minorities are REQUIRED but they couldn’t pass the damn tests! Isn’t this lowering the quality of our services? I don’t want a fireman that only got 70% on his test scores coming to my rescue when a person that scored 80% didn’t get the job because that department was REQUIRED to pass the minority!
Now many areas are forcing our school kids to learn Spanish because the spanish people don’t want to learn English!
Oh, and I can’t say Merry Christmas any more!

In 2003 husband took daughter just after his dad dies (calls it payback) I locate daughter (she called friend) terrifed and gave them address and hung up. I had no phone at home (husband was why) I go to neighbors and call chief of police there and when he comes back he tells me shes with family and I can do nothing. His words were odd: They came out and lined up while he asked questions. Lined up? I called local cops and they like him gave me the runaround. I get the same with lawyers too. I live in North Carolina. I have no job husband got me cars that drank gas and then barely gave me enough to make food trips and back. He was and is a control freak. Counsler said he’s abusively insane, cps says he’s a perfect dad (he pawns her off to be with other women).I can’t pay for a lawyer and I am not about to go through the bs of legal aid again.They are as nuts as he is.He witholds mail and gives wrong address when he has law serve me anything. Don’t ask about mail, insanity never stops.
What can I do? I am sent in circles. This officer says one thing. Lawyers contradict themselves and others. Ican’t get a straight answer.I would go to montel or some one like him except I don’t own this pc and the harder I try to do anything the crazier things become. Got any suggestions?
