I was talking to a friend today he was telling me in 2012 the earths polarity will change. Like North with become South, South become North and the earth will start to rotate in the oppsite direction. I was reading a little bit on Nasa website and it was saying that the sun’s polarity was dur to change in 2012. I was just wondering do u think this will happen to earth?
I might not have I do read these things bit quickly sometimes. I think it was more like Nasa was predicting this.
Can people travel back and forth through time? I brought up a GREAT question in class. If we have time machines in the furture, why not come ehre and tell us that they have them? Well..belive it or now..in 2012..the earth is supposed to go KABOOM!..hehe thats why! but heres my question:
Are there Aliens, Are there dimensions, are there these facts that no one has found? What are people really hiding? Why do we have Day-za-vu? why? why? why? Why dont we have super man..and etc..why dont we have cancer cured? Are we really that in-sa-nif-ic-cint? Seriously..this earth is as lame as anything
ANU Public lecture: Target earth: the asteroid impact history of Australia – Dr Andrew Glikson. This video was recorded at The Australian National University on 14 July 2010 and presented as part of the ANU Alumni Research Series. In this lecture, Dr Andrew Glikson discusses how large asteroid collisions have driven the evolution of Earth’s crust and how these impacts link to mass extinction events. The origin of several major episodes of volcanism, faulting, climate changes and extinctions can be traced to asteroids collisions with Earth. Australia has an excellent record of asteroid impacts dating back to the beginnings of Earth’s formation. Recent discoveries of large impact structures in Western Australia, including 359 million year old and 120km wide Woodleigh, 75km wide Gnargoo and 50km wide Mount Ashmore have shed light on the origin of past mass extinctions and climate changes. Dr Glikson is a Visiting Fellow with the School of Archaeology and Anthropology, Planetary Science Institute and Climate Change Institute. Dr Glikson graduated from the University of Western Australia and since graduation, has held positions as a Principal Research Scientist at Geoscience Australia, conducted extensive geological surveys in outback Australia, specialised in studies of the early Earth, the effects of asteroid and comets on terrestrial evolution and the origin of mass extinction of species. More recently, Dr Glikson has been studying the effects of climate on human evolution … Video Rating: 3 / 5
I was reading about asteroids and just randomly thought if it would be of any significance if one were to hit the earth where a powerful Cat 4 or Cat 5 hurricane was occurring. Would the hurricane affect the asteroid or vice versa?
A.cooling and contracting of the planet’s interior, which caused the mantle and lithosphere to be compressed
B.volcanism, which produced heavy volcanoes that bent and cracked the lithosphere
C. the circulation of convection cells in the mantle, which dragged against the lithosphere
D. impacts of asteroids and planetesimals
E.internal temperature changes that caused the crust to expand and stretch
