What will happen 2012 NOT that Doomsday stuff but scientifically?

So when ever I look up 2012 I get end of the world stuff but I was wondering about the scientific side of it, a possible pole shift or the idea that the earth would be passing the equator of the galaxy, anyone know anything, please share :)

Has lying become a part of our social skills?

I need help elaborating an idea into a concept which needs to be explained during a presentation.

The topic is “How has lying as an act to become apart of our survival skills?”

Thanks for the input!

Do I have a fear of flying? If so or if not, I have several safety questions?

I’m not afraid of the general idea of flying, but I feel much more comfortable driving on highways with careless drivers than I am with flying thousands of miles above the ground in a metal tomb with my life entrusted with strangers and the competences of the engineers and mechanics who built and repair this complex machine.

1) What is the number one safety problem that the aviation industry needs to address? It could be anything-security, flight maintenance, air traffic control, etc. Why hasn’t the issue been fixed?

2) Has language skills ever been a problem in pilots contacting air traffic control? Has it ever resulted in a crash?

3) How common are tailstrikes? Are they mostly due to pilot incompetence?

4) If an aircraft’s hydraulic fluid is completely leaked out due to an explosion of some sort, are the chances of an emergency landing essentially zero?

5) Does adverse weather cause phugoids? When are phugoids fatal?

6) If an explosion damages the flight control cables in midflight, are the chances of survival zero?

7) How differently do traffic collision avoidance system and ground proximity warning systems work? Would they both work if the plane is flying upside down?
8) What other object identification systems are there? Why aren’t planes equipped with missile detecting systems?

9) Are ground proximity warning systems equally as valuable as altitude indicators to prevent collisions with terrain?

10) If a plane’s static wicks are broken, what would happen to the plane after lightning strikes it? Would the electricity reach the fuselage and cause the plane to explode?

11) Are flight plans these days compiled by computers? Is there any chance of a computer glitch resulting in a flight plan for a plane to fly in a particular situation where it shouldn’t be?

Is joining the Canadian Armed Forces a good idea?

I’m 16 years old and I’ve always been interested in joining the Military since I was a young kid, unfortunately my parent’s will not approve of my decision because I am their “one and only precious little boy.”I don’t know what I want to do with my life as far as education and getting a career, if anything I’d like to pursue music. As far as my upbringing and knowledge on weaponry, combat skills, survival, etc, it is very limited. I did 8 years of Boy Scouts so I know some essential basic skills for surviving in the wild, but that’s about it. I know politics decide what happens in the Military but I’ve always been a caring, concerned, open-minded person who has always wanted to help others in need. I’m fairly intelligent and tall, I’m 6’2 and unfortunately pretty skinny but I’m sure the military would change that asap. Base Borden is only a 30 minute drive from my house also which is a plus. I’m willing to cut my hair short (its fairly long) and I’m able to take directions and listen to instructions without questioning, etc. I think I would survive in the military and I would be determined to go through all the hard, harsh training and early wake ups, etc. I’m willing to train my body psychologically, physically, and emotionally for whatever they want, and I’m willing to go over seas if I have too.

So is the Military a good career choice if I’m willing to take the challenge and possibly help the world someway or another? And be honest with me, if I want to help others should I just join the Peace Corps? I’m not afraid to go into battle, I know my life will be on the line, I’m not some stereotypical Call of Duty teenage nerd, I know there are no re-spawns, I know you can’t just customize your gun in the military, etc. I just want to fight terror and help other people in need who don’t have the wonderful privilege of living in an amazing country such as Canada, and if I figure out this is what I want to do I will be signing up as soon as I turn 18 (even though you can join the military at 16 my parent’s would not allow it, would not drive me to the base, support me, etc.)

About my cycled tank?

My tank got ich, fin rot and some other wierd disease, i think its called swim bladder, this all happened thanks to my einstein sister who had the bright idea of unplugging my heater and filter and i didnt realize until about 2 days ( mainly because i wasnt at my house )

so before i tore down my tank the ammonia was still 0.3-4ppm and nitrite hadn’t even started, i boiled everything, including the filters so i would kill the ich and so on.

i am resetting up the tank for an oscar ( yes it is 55 gallons ), my betta has a very healthy cycled tank and my sister has 3 guppies, she was “nice” enough to let me borrow them until i get my oscar, i added 2 big rocks, 3 handfulls of gravel and 1 cup of completlty cycled goodness.

I am using the guppies to preserve the bacteria until i get my oscar ( im getting my oscar in 4 days ) and i put 2 cichlid pellets in the gravel as a food for the bacteria.

It has been a little over 24 hours since i restarted the tank, about 24 hours since i added the guppies and cycled products, someone said that it is not yet safe for an oscar which is messy, i checked ammonia and nitrite today and they were both 0ppm. the guppies are not showing any signs of NTS ( new tank syndrome ) no red gills, as a matter of fact 2 of the females are pregnant.

so the tank is already cycled, is it safe for an oscar?
