Many scientists believe that it’s very likely that the impact of an asteroid or the effects of global climate change will wipe us out. I was wondering if Christians, Jews or Muslims believe that there would be some kind of divine intervention before these things would happen?
I am asking a question, and all I’m getting is idiot answers or insults…WTF??????

I mean, it seems to me that the people who would claim to be highly religious are the same ones screaming the loudest that we shouldn’t do anything to curb environmental degradation. It’s not our place, it’s all “natural”, this is not god’s kingdom, the earth is merely a filling station, etc. Yet, when you read what some of the scenarios are, they sound an awful lot like what will happen if we do nothing to address our environmental crisis. And I’m not just talking about global warming; I mean they despise any kind of attitude that suggests the earth has inherent value and should be protected just for the sake of it. Yet, they will want to point and “See, I told you so. God is real and this is the end and ha-ha all you other people are gonna burn.” Will religion destroy the earth?

cookie: i’m well aware of what a self-fulfilling prophecy is, thank you. what you don’t seem to realize is that it’s also closely tied to perspective. what you call pride i call narcissism. picking up trash won’t save you, but it’s a start.

and finally, to trk, whom i will award ten points: that actually does make me feel a little better, as i love our earth like it was my own body. however, i would only urge you to look honestly and critically at your own life. are you sure you are not also one who brings ruin to the earth? are you so sure that you are meek, as required? i hope so…otherwise you’re a hypocrit

Just ask any proud parent or grandparent about their child’s accomplishments and don’t be too surprised to find that most children have made a perfect replica of a Vague out of their baby food; calculate quantum physics with their fingers or have even crawled on water before the age of one! Yet we don’t allow then to cross the street by themselves till there 32! Baby Einstein’s amongst us or not… the truth be told, most children bare the proactive skills for survival, we just don’t supply them with the tools they need… at least till now. So, no more excuses for those who are having a hard time letting their baby grow up, it’s for their own safety. It’s time for both of you to become Mr. No-No Proactive Safe.
