Can you completely lose your unemployment if you take a temp job?

Ok, I was employeed at a company for 5 years and it completely closed forcing me to go on unemployment. I have never been unemployeed since the day I’ve been able to work at 16. It’s been about 9 months now of trying to find a job. I apply to everything and just cannot get a job. I even went back to school to brush up my skills during this ordeal. Now I just need a job even more for survival. In sheer desperation I applied at a temp agency. Ive been offered a 2 week job that starts in a few weeks. But now Im being told of all these horrible things like I will lose unemployment and be stuck in the temp world of waiting for jobs! I am freaking out, cause although unemployment was tiny compared to what I normally made, I made it work. But if I lose all income…Im screwed. I could last a week or so if it took that much time for unemployment to start back up after the 2 week job. But if after that 2 weeks, Im faced with nothing and no job prospects, I don’t know what to do. I have kicked the job search into high gear this week, with the hope of landing a job before I sign the final paperwork for this 2 week job. The worst part is I just dont know if Im making a terrible decision because I’ve never did temp work before. Does anyone have any words of advice? Im grown but I feel so freaken confused and sad :(

How to get along with people?

I’m not much of a people person, but I get pressured by people close to me to open myself up and be cautious about what I say. I have a baby face and people don’t tend to take me seriously, I get told frequently to dress mature. I also get told to go drink and club when I don’t want to just because people deem it normal socialising. I’m the honest, blunt person who has a hard time figuring out why people do pointless things like chit-chat, gossip and what not. Even if I did not do all that I get judged from what I don’t say, how do I get along with people and still be myself? I can’t be myself when I’m around a large crowd, I don’t much seek it, but I’ve been told it’s crucial to survival to make friends, get jobs and build a family. I don’t much want a family, I want a job, however it’s hard because I don’t know many people and interviewers see me as a child. What can I do to improve my communication skills?

Why do so many parents rob their kids of free-time?

Seriously, when I was a kid my parents let me do what I wanted to do (with reason) after school, homework and studying. Yet, my friend’s parents forced their kids to play a sport, soccer, learn piano, etc that so many had little to no time for themselves to be kids. Many of these parents did this so the child would “have more opportunities and be serious about life”. Guess what? At the age of 25 I make more then all my friends that I described above….so much for more opportunites!!! LOL. What is wrong with letting kids be kids up until maybe the age of 13 or so. Is it a crime to have fun? Do you prefer kids to have social skills (which society and jobs require) or to play a sport or piano which isn’t needed for survival or any realistic jobs anyways?

Why is it that you can place people in a workcenter in demographic categories?

I have seen that a lot of people tend to group up at certain jobs, like there are a lot of southerners in naval engineering, and a lot of foreign nationals in naval supply. a lot of times, people from similar walks of life end up working in food service, and computer geeks tend to work in the information technology field. So I am just wondering why is it that there seems to be no “true” diversity in a work environment?
