Eight Belles was bred for entertainment – for human desires. Many of us were taught as children that animals were placed here for us, to do with what we please, for our pleasures and desires..for entertainment, for food, for clothing, for medical research. Therein lies the disconnect from the reality of our choices, and we rationalize this disconnect with our feelings of superiority and we soothe our conscience by pretending that the animals we kill and abuse by supporting these practices either don’t know what is happening or are treated “well.” Or we use excuses like: it is nature, it is tradition, it is the way our ancestors did it, it provides jobs, it preserves the species, we need animal products to live, it is just easier to follow the status quo..all these excuses are riddled with fault and personal agenda. Think about this carefully before defending such excuses.
