Is Maxximum Nutrition (for puppies) good for my pup?

It says “no animals by-products or artificial colors added”. And the first two ingredients are Real Lamb and brewer’s rice. I heard that the first ingredient should be a meat and the 2nd rice. So to me it sounds like a good dog food but i need to hear from some people who know a lot about good dog food….SOMEONE WHO KNOWS A LOT ABOUT DOGS NUTRITION. THANK YOU
It reads:

Lamb, brewer’s rice, corn gluten meal, chicken meal, ground yellow corn, oat groats, animals fat preserved with mixed tocopherols (a source of vitamin E), dried beef pulp, monocalcium phosphate, veg. oil, natural flavors, calcium, carbonate, potassium choride, salt, brewers dried yeast, choline chloride, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, vitamin E supplement, zinc oxide, niacin, copper sulfate, vitamin A supplement, manganous oxide, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B12 supplement, pyridoxine hydochloride, thiamine mononitrate, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin k activity) ..

My question is this, last night I posted a question and someone told me that WELLNESS isn’t supposed to be the only food fed to a dog – because it is pure meat and no vegetables??

Is that true? I don’t really see wild dogs eating too many salads these days! Heh! I’m not sure – but I wouldn’t have switched to a 60 dollar brand of dog food if I knew that it had to be supplimented with something else? …thanks for any insight!!
I didn’t realize that feeding my dog quality food was me falling for a sales pitch?? Weird!!

Attention LARGE BREED DOG BREEDERS (food question)?

I am getting a Great Dane puppy and an American Bulldog pup later this year. I know to feed a food with multiple proteins (meat/poultry/fish/eggs) and no straight lamb/rice diets, a moderate protein and fat level and of course moderate calories. I will only feed my dogs a food that is naturally preserved and human grade.

I have heard that I need to give them NuVet Plus (canine) tablets for the rest of their life, is this true? If so, where do I get them?

So basically, what brands of dog food is going to be the best for my babies? I, as everyone else in the economy these days, am on a budget. I feed my Pointer (53 pounds) Merrick dog food and it’s fantastic for him! He is turning 4 years in April, is there a food for all life stages that would be appropriate for all 3 dogs? I have also heard that Drs. Foster and Smith’s dog and cat food are very good foods, is this true? (I have used their website for all my medications, bowls, beds, collars, Heat Guard etc, and LOVE them!) Thank you for your help!

why is raw meat bad for your dog?

ok, so I feed my dog raw meat occasionally (like im talking a lamb shank every few weeks or mixing some lamb kidney in with her biccies) and i get scolded for it, people telling me it’s not healthy for them, or it makes them vicious… and when i feed them dog food i get scolded because commercial pet food is over processed and tainted with toxins, which are used to preserve the food and to give it an attractive smell and taste.

My nan’s Chihuahua is turning 17, which is longer then it’s life expectancy. she’s always fed him raw meats.
Dog in the wild eat raw meat, it is there diet.

can anyone give me hard facts that prove to me good or bad. I just want to know, and make sure i am feeding my dogs the healthiest food possible.
My dog isn’t the chihuahua, as i said, thats my nan’s dog. i have two bullies. yeah i heard that about the beef having tape worms… it’s normally just lamb shanks, and organs like lamb kidneys or livers and marrow bones if they are lucky. other wise they get those dog polony rolls.
