is it NOT ok for me to feed my dogs wellness?

I recently bought this wellness dog food “Old Mother Hubbard Wellness Super5Mix Lamb”

these are the ingredients:
Lamb, Menhaden Fish Meal, Oatmeal, Ground Barley, Ground Brown Rice, Rye Flour, Tomato Pomace, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of vitamin E), Salmon Meal, Rice Bran (from brown rice), Tomatoes (natural source of Lycopene), Ground Millet, Natural Lamb Flavor, Flaxseed, Carrots, Spinach, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Blueberries, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride.

My question is this, last night I posted a question and someone told me that WELLNESS isn’t supposed to be the only food fed to a dog – because it is pure meat and no vegetables??

Is that true? I don’t really see wild dogs eating too many salads these days! Heh! I’m not sure – but I wouldn’t have switched to a 60 dollar brand of dog food if I knew that it had to be supplimented with something else? …thanks for any insight!!
I didn’t realize that feeding my dog quality food was me falling for a sales pitch?? Weird!!

Can anyone give me a good website that teaches about preserving dried food?

such as sugar…..muffin mix…..legumes etc….

The ones I have found want you to buy theirs. I already have mylar bags , oxygen absorbers, and buckets but I’m not sure what I can package in them besides rice and pasta.
I also have cans.

Over Weight Dog-Border Collie/lab mix?

My dog needs to lose about 50 lbs. she just weight in at 99.5 way too much weight. I know the sensible answer is to cut back on her food and snacks, but is it necessary to buy a Vet prescribed food such as OM made by Purina. I have purchased a bag costing 31.00 for 20 lbs. Way to expensive but if necessary will continue to buy. Is there a cheaper “good” food out there I can start her on? Thank you.

What should I make my ferret food mix a combo of out of these foods?

How much of each? Or should I leave any out.

(The cat and ferret kind is the same only I can get the cat kind at a local store where the ferret kind i have to order online)
I feed the ferret store original formula for all 3 of mine right now and Would like to make a mix just in case. I got my first 11 months ago my second 9 months ago and my third 2 months ago.
In my other question Ali H you said you would pick brown rice before wheat. But in this question you say Zupreem is better when it had ground wheat and wheat flour. The ferret store food has brown rice so how is zupreem better?
I am always thinking there is a better food availible than what I give and when one has a good there is a bad. Like for instance 8 in 1 sounds like a great food I almost diecided to add it to my mix but it has raisin juice and banana puree which I WILL NOT add to my ferts diet. EVO is great but it has fish which is lame and it has the apples, carrots, cranberries and tomatoes. I had some free samples of wellness core and it reaked to high heavens from the whitfish and salmon meal. The poor cat who eats anything wouldn’t even touch it. It also has tomatoe pumice and cranberries which isn’t as bad as EVO I dunno though. I have OCD too so it doesn’t help this sitatuation because I want them on THE BEST food.

Should I really be feeding my dog this?

My vet has me feeding my 8 month old Cockapoo/Bichon mix dry Purina E/N. When I started going there, I had him on all natural food. I can’t help but feel guilty about what I am feeding him now (see ingredients below). Should I stick to the Purina and obey by vet’s orders or not?
