Im wondering if anyone knows where i can live in the wilderness?

I lost my job in 2008 and havent been able to find anything since and i have slowly lost everything.Home.Vehicles.im currently living with family. But i just wanta take 6 months to a year and escape from all the stress of people and society for awhile.I have lots of survival skills and have prepared all my life. i have all the things i need and im ready to go. I just dont know where you can go in todays America with all the NATIONAL protected forest and privately owned land.I used to spend a week or 2 in the mountains for a get away, but society will not let you permanently live there or stay as long as i want and you cant build a permanent shelter. Are there any areas a person can go and get back to the basics of life for awhile? Or does society just want to keep everyone bundled up in stress and hardships until they cant take it anymore and go crazy or just off themselves? Thanks for any help or research information provided.

Do you know this asteroid documentary?

Hello, are you familiar with a documentary that is basically an illustration of how would humanity behave around the world is an asteroid was to hit the Earth in our days… I though it was Asteroid Apocalypse of the History Channel but it’s not. I can remember some parts of the program, some tribe in Africa was in an uproar, hardly attacking the village’s religious authority wondering what had happened to the sun, some guy in Mexico builds an underground fortress and upon the strike crawls out with his dogs who later flee his side desperate for water and this kid ends up arriving at the zone of impact… and I recall also that what it said in the end was that the human race would in fact survive and not disappear like the dinosaurs did, and it showed some happy people in some mountains somewhere… If someone knows what it was, please post…

jump-starting fires with hand sanitzer gel – How?

A news article stated an Eagle scout had employed survival skills while lost in the mountains by “jump-starting fires with hand sanitizer gel”. How do you do that?

Pickled Corn Recipe?

Being from the mountains of eastern Kentucky, I grew up eating foods preserved by pickling. If you like pickled bologna, pickles, & sauerkraut, then you will LOVE pickled corn. Here is a recipe that I have tried, and 10 years later, found a jar of pickled corn on the cob, and it was still delicious.

Pickled Corn (on the cob)
Boil corn till barely done, approx 5-8 min, don’t over cook
Let cool, may place in refrigerator, or in ice water.
Use brine mixture: 1/2 cup pickling salt to 3 quarts of water.
Place corn in clean, sterilized canning jars, or you may use a crock. 1/2 gallon jars work well, or empty gallon size pickled bologna jars.
Pour brine solution over the corn, and place in a cool dark place, preferably outside in a storage building or garage. The pickling process takes at least 3 weeks, and the solution will bubble and “work”, and could possibly leak out the top of the jar. Sometimes a film or mold will settle on top of the liquid. Skim it off, rinse the corn, & eat!!
