How does someone change school cirriculum?

I would like to know how and who has authority to change the curriculum in our entire school system? And I would also like to know how this answer can get to that person so that they can consider the idea of making CPR and skills for survival a mandatory class for high school or even jr.high. We’ve been taking history for a good 10 out of 12 years we attended school- I mean I cant save a life or anything but hey at least I know what kind or dresses were worn in the Renaissance era- Im sure that will come in handy, thanks a lot. Maybe history wouldnt keep repeating itself if we had a class called “Future” instead. How to preserve it and such. We should also know things like what we’re really putting in our bodies w/ food we eat today, instead finding out that in fine print on the back of a nutrition guide warning that the fries we/ve been eating for 15, 20 years has cancer causing ingredients,,,Nutrition should be required starting kindergarten, then when you go to high school you can know how to grow and raise your own food in Survival 101. Well I could go on and on but lets just start w/ those…Who, how and will someone change our schools?

Weight Lost Programs that works for you. ?

Hey guys, I’m a guy that love to advocate nutrition, health, and weight lost. I wanted to start a small discussion about weight lost programs and what worked for you guys. I hope each person learns a little bit through this discussion and maybe be inspired to try some of these. Ill start off with my story.

Growing up I’ve been bless to be skinny. During my senior year I started to weight lift, and saw myself getting much bigger then I expected and a bit stocky with a wider frame. This made me confident but I’ve always struggled with weight lost. Even though I was skinny I have always had a stomach which never gave me the defining abs I always hoped for. After Weight lifting for 2 years, I setup a new goal for myself. That goal was to get a decent 6 pack. I accomplished this within 5 months and this is how I did it.

This is not for everyone but this maybe helpful.
My exercises consist of morning runs after a protein drink, afternoon weightlifting, and night time runs.

My Foods are
Yogurt, rice, Chicken, and eggs.

I ate 6 times a day but really what helped me lose my fat and preserve my muscle wasn’t the food but the protein shakes I ingested. As most athletes know the more cardiovascular exercises you do the more fat you burn, but on top of that the more muscle you burn as well. you must find some way to supply your body with the right amount of carbohydrates and protein so when your doing that high amount of cardiovascular exercises it doesn’t eat away your lean mussels. The way I ended up countering this was adding a high amount of protein through shakes to supplement the low carbs that I didn’t have. This resulted in my body burning fats and protein after my carbs were all used up.
Now it’s been awhile since I’ve been back to the gym. I ended with 9% body fat but now because i haven’t been to the gym for awhile now i am back to where i started with 25% body fat. I will try to do this again within the next several months and ill keep you guys posted. Hope this helps and I am also very interested reading other peoples experiences as well. Live well my friends.

Nutrition labels…ever look at the crap that’s actually in your food (not a diet lecture, so read on…)?

think of all the stupid unnecessary crap that companies add to their food to “make it taste good”, or “preserve it”.

Seriously, there’s high fructose corn syrup in everything that’s a beverage, pretty much, unless you’re drinking water.

Even then, a lot of brands add minerals “for taste”. Nestle Pure Life water, for example, has shit in it I can’t even pronounce on the label.

And I’d drink water from the purifier, but it’s still hard city water. I mean, if it makes your skin itch with a purifying thing on the showerhead, do you really wanna drink it?

And adding salt to everything, like nuts. It’s like companies picture that overweight, middle-aged guy sitting at Denny’s abusing a salt-shaker, and are like, “Salt would make these better! Everyone loves salt!” Seriously, nuts are good on their own, like dry roasted peanuts or pistacchios right out of the shell.

Just saying that if companies were so worried about our health, they should put less crap in their products.
I mean, we have a choice, definitely. But are you going to go without your favorite treats for the rest of your life? Do you have time to go around and pick stuff up and see if it’s “healthy” enough for you to eat? Of course you don’t. You don’t have the time because you work and wrangle your kids around and do other stressful everyday crap. Plus, produce does not last forever and not a whole lot of people can visit the store every week to pick up new produce. I just think companies should nix the unnecessary crap. People will still eat their products, probably buy more of them without the added crap, and thank them for it in the end. Am I right?

Are you what you eat?

Diet Questions Answered from your ‘nutrition expert’

Q: I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that’s it… don’t waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that’s like saying you can extend the lifeof your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
—————————————————————–
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is:
No Pain…Good!

Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU’RE NOT LISTENING!!!…. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
—————————————————————–
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft aroundthe middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
—————————————————————–
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLOCocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It’s the best feel-good food around!
——————————————————————
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
——————————————————————

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! ‘Round’ is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:
‘Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -Cabernet in one hand, chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ‘WOO HOO! What a Ride’

AND……

For those of you who watch what you eat, here’s the final word on nutrition and health. It’s a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you .
