N.Korea, Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, and many others hate the U.S.?

considering all the alliances involved (NATO, DPRK-Venezuela-Cuba alliance, etc), and the fact that alliances among powers such as these led to WWI, the instability of the Middle East and our oil supplies, increasing numbers of nuclear weapons, distrust among one another, and rogue nations unwilling to listen to the U.N.,

will we have another world war? and considering technology today, will the losses be even greater? is the doomsday clock actually right?

Is Flax seed oil that is sold as a dry good (vs. a refrigerated good)as viable as the refridgerated kind?

I have seen Flax seed oil sold in the herbal supplement department of my local big-box retailer. It is shelf-stabilized and it’s sell by date is marked a year into the future. I usually purchase Flax Seed oil from the refrigerated isle at Whole Foods, and it is only good for a couple weeks after purchase. Can the dry-goods version be as nutritionaly valuable as the refrigerated version? I suspect not, but would like to hear from someone in the know.

BP Oil Spill: Who is to blame, and what is Pelosi’s beef?

It seems to me that blame for the oil spill rests squarely on the shoulders of the regulatory system. Every oil company operating in deep water has access to the same technology and must follow the same MMS rules about safety cases and emergency preparedness. If she says BP lied, then that is what every company that operates there does, and the question arises of how the MMS failed to identify the problem.

I think it is naive in the extreme to say that BP is 100% to blame. Every action has a cost, so a manager in any company has to make a case for any action. If the regulatory system says something is ok, it is virtually impossible to make a successful case for additional safeguards. It seems that a major contributory mistake was to use water instead of drilling mud. That was allowed by the regulations – yes indeed! – because if it was not, the Transocean people would have had no difficulty in refusing flatly. The regulatory system must therefore bear some responsibility, and probably the lion’s share because of its huge influence on operations generally.
