What is the best way to end my story?

I am writing a short story for my english class and i need to end it. the plot is basically what i would do in a zombie outbreak. so far i have a group of friends and family and we are on our way to wall mart for some supplies. we have several large firearms and are well prepared for any resistance that we meet. we have motor vehicle transportation and some of us know how to use firearms, we have a firefighter, a paramedic, and i was in the army cadets so i know a lot of survival skills. please help me end the story, i don’t want to have everyone survive, it won’t be as fun, but i need my main character to survive because i wrote some of my story as him telling it afterwards.
