***** From “The Real People Series” of nine, 30 minute programs on Indian tribes of the Northwestern United States. They are called the Colville, the Flathead, the Coeur d’Alene, the Kalispel, the Kootenai, the Nez Perce and the Spokane – and they call themselves The Real People. This series of the same name examines the lifestyles, cultures and lore of these seven Indian tribes of the Northwest. The Real People expresses the Indians’ basic values – their wisdom, warmth and humor – as exemplified in their religion, medicine, song and dance, hunting and their modern-day urban experiences. The production crew explores the special spiritual relationship the Indian has to time and space and captures the visual beauty of their environment through four-seasons location production. *****
