Here are two examples, show me where I am wrong please:
Capitalism with limited government, rule of law,
Person is broke, hungry, worried, and starts to work to improve life. Person learns a skill, gets a job, works hard, gets paid, improves his life with the power of trading his earnings with others, food and comfort items like healthcare. Remembers life without these things and works hard to get ahead and stay ahead.
Socialism with government rules for most activities, like unions and Fed. laws etc.,
Promises by government takes away all fear and worry, retirement covered, healthcare free and covered, union job guaranteed with locked in wages and seniority by time in. Worker just shows up and does his job and can’t be fired. (unless caught stealing).
I think I have a basis to start here. Here is my question, where is the perpetuating force that sustains the socialist model? Why work when you don’t need to, why work harder when it does no good. Everything is guaranteed, what drives the individual to invent, create, try harder, study, show up at all?
Socialism covers what you get, not what you do to get it.
In the capitalism example the driving force to work and save- is survival, worry about danger, need for sustenance, this drives the individual to excellence and to pull his own weight in society, and continues to do so his whole career.
Socialism ties everyone together and the entire system shuts down. As we see happening now in the US as we attempt to pay for entitlements that are growing out of control and more and more sign up for the free stuff.
I would love to hear your answers, unless you liberals haven’t even thought this through???
Also, this idea that we have part socialism with capitalism is just socialism, we have that now and are going broke, half our population thinks they will retire on the backs of the other half working. That failed already. So please don’t use European models because it is failing in most places except very small countries of like citizenry.
Those who talk of a better life in places like France, remember they spend nothing on defense, the shipping lanes are open because we protect their ability to survive, all those countries you mention benefit greatly from what little capitalist wealth that we create for the world to consume.
They are like our children.
My kids live great, I pay all the overhead and they just spend what little they make on fun.
Let the French live well when they are attacked by another country and no one lifts a finger to help. When the ships that carry goods going and coming are sunk by pirates. So lets be honest when comparing things.
