Why do so many survivalists forget about arson and fire?

I knew someone who became a “survivalist” in the sense of (legally, mind you) stockpiling firearms and ammunition.

However, he did all of this in a traditional wood-frame house, located near several trees.

I told him, look buddy, do you really think your enemies will line up one-by-one and come at you straight-on so that you can pick them off?

Doubtful. They will probably just torch everything around you and then torch you out of your own wooden house.

That made him think.

But I think it’s a very overlooked aspect of “survivalism.”

Also, the lesson from various wars and insurgencies around the world is that one single dude cannot protect an entire perimeter, especially not all the time. You need many people in your compound to defend every side and every approach. Singular dudes who try to hold down forts may have a lot of weaponry, but they invariably end up dead.

Most “military grade” gun that You can legally buy in California?

If you lived in California and were putting together a survivalist kit in case of a natural disaster/civil war/terrorist attack/invasion by Obama clones (or whatever it is that survivalists prepare for), and you were including a rifle/assault/carbine sized gun, what would be your first choice from the ones that can be legally purchased in California and why would you choose it?
You can’t legally buy the .50 sniper in California. The Governator banned it.
Not Islamic terrorists, the “other” kind.
