My wife is going to go on a retreat next year and she is supposed to take only food grown in our yard. As well as other things we have strawberries, cherries, apples and grapes. She won’t have a cooler on the trip.
What is the best way to preserve this food for next year? I’m thinking about dehydrating it. Will this food dehydrate well? Would it last until next year? Is it OK to freeze it before or after dehydrating it? Any better ways to preserve it?
Thanks!
She needs to eat only food we grow, so we’re trying save up this year’s and next year’s crops.
Can you freeze AND dehydrate? It’ll need to be dry for when she’s out there, but I’m thinking it might need to be frozen too, just so it survives until next year.
