How many minutes per day do I need to work on my recumbent bike to see weight loss?

I am a female in her early 30′s, 5ft. 2, 165lbs (oh no!!!) who just bought a recumbent bike. I needed something non-jarring due to some upper vertebrae degeneration I have. How many minutes per day do I need to be on this bike to see some weight loss results? My diet is the typical American diet, though I am switching to more baked foods and less sodas. Would like to start off with a solid excersise program first, then modify my diet gradually day by day. I have yo-yo’d so many times in the past, with diet pills, starving, and what not, and just want to be healthy this time. Drastic is not for me anymore, as I wish to preserve my health and not be jarring or harmful to my body. Thank you.

Should I go to a treatment center?

I like food, way too much. I’ve been anorexic and bulimic, and now I eat too much. Some days I starve, but I usually eat too much and i’m overweight. I am preoccupied with my weight, and I hate myself. I cut the word pig into my stomach. I’ve been in psych treatment for bipolar disorder and an eating disorder. But my weight is really driving my life, and i can’t do right. I am in therapy, but I am so preoccupied with being fat. Do you think a treatment center would help? What do I do?

Which Survival knife should I choose?

I’m having a tough time trying to decide between two survival knives. I’m considering the Ka-Bar original (1217) or short (1256). The short would be lighter and easier to handle and carry. It has a 5 1/4″ blade. The original would work better for chopping branches and beating/hammering because of the extra weight behind it. I carry a leatherman wave already. I will be basically using it for going out and playing survivor man. I love geocaching, hiking, camping and I’m getting more into survival skills just as a hobby. Which knife would you choose, 5 1/4″ lighter, or 7″ heavier? Please state your survival experience when answering.

A start to regaining my confidence…is this the right things to be doing???

I have been in a relationship for just over a year…we are going through a lot of problems right now…I don’t feel respected…but I also have no self esteem left to get away from the relationship…he knows this…all I do is worry about us and our problems and somedays I know it’s not worth dealing with but I do love him…today for no apparent reason I started thinking to myself..I need to find a hobby…I can’t think of anything else to do but start exersizing and working on building my self esteem…I am what I consider to be VERY over weight…I am 5’5” and about 240lbs…and I know by doing something about myself I would be less apt to let him walk all over me…if I take a brisk walk every day (30-40 min) drink 6-8 glasses of water, eat smaller portions and work out every other day (things I can do at home, I can afford a gym membership), cut out junk food (seems to be the only thing thats makes me happy anymore) will I lose weight or am I wasting my time doing it by myself?
