Best survival book out there?

I heard Primitive Wilderness Living and Survival Skills and SAS books are very good. But they don’t seem to cover everything you would need. I have not read any but I was hoping to find a book that told you EVERTHING that you can do in the wilderness, like how to make a compass, how to follow stars, how to make fish hooks! These books only seem to cover a few things! or am I wrong?

nature/wilderness camp for young adults?

Well I am going to be a senior in High School next year. I am a loner and I am trying to become more social. I really love being in the wilderness and having fun in nature. Last year I went on a sailing camp over summer, but it was with a bunch of little kids and it wasn’t very fun. I want to go to a wilderness/survivalist/nature camp that isn’t geared for troubled teens, doesn;t have alot of little kids and is above all, cheap, since my family doesn’t have much money. I am hoping for one that costs less than a thousand dollars, for around a weeks length. Does anyone know of any camps like that around California?

Where can I go “adventuring”?

Ever seen Into The Wilderness? Perhaps my desire will prove just as disastrous ^^ but hopefully not.
Anyway, I was wondering where I could go adventuring(preferably WITHIN the US for now).

The reason I ask the question is because I don’t want to encroach any legal issues.. For instance, would I need hunting/fishing licenses if I wanted to backpack and “live off the land” for a period of time? Is there anywhere adequately secluded where I could pit myself against the natural world in a survivalist situation and not have to worry about being harassed?

Thanks
