Are you allowed to bring food when you cross the US border into Mexico?

I don’t think you can bring fruit (or can you?) but can you bring prepackaged stuff like soup or crackers?

  3. I’ve been through several times and was never checked. It may or may not be allowed, but the customs agents are usually so busy that they don’t really check.
