   start with a plain ol wicker nest…supply stuff so they can build it(pet stores)

   they will eventually go in there…during mating its more likly…they could just possibly not like it at all though

   Different species of finches have individual nesting preferences.

   Give them a little more time. Did you add nesting material? I have had the best luck with a sturdy hardwood nesting box for my finches. I like the wicker type but I am not the one living in it. Different species of finches have individual nesting preferences. To insure breeding success, it is recommended that you offer different varieties of nests until you find the nest that works best for you and your birds.
