Anybody got any terrible horror stories or any advice on staying safe?
I am prepared for it, so far as survival skills, navigation skills, what to pack, what to eat, etc. , but i am still a little weary of going it alone although i know i would enjoy it more than going with others.

I went to Turkey, got drunk a lot and lost my way, saw some ridiculous, amazing things. Met great people and terrible people.
You’ll be fine!
The most important piece of advice I was given was not to stay at a local’s home (probably because I’m a girl).
It is risky, it also depends on where you are going, make sure you know a lot about the area.

Yes, being prepared, trained in self medical care, etc. you should have no problems. I have traveled many trails and much of the PCT alone and the only problems I encountered were of the two legged kind. Also make sure your travel plans are posted with a friend or family, keep in touch every week or so to make them feel assured of your survival skills.
By the way watch the movie “GRIZZLY!” before you head out
been there done that

Unless you are really experienced, yes it is dangerous. because if you mess up too bad, no one will be able to help you. Good luck and have fun! ^_^
P.S. Don’t mess up!
